‘Who’s this guy?': Sunrise star's Oscars red carpet run-in

The Oscars 2021 is well underway, with some of the biggest stars taking to a very socially distanced red carpet in LA.

With a limited number of journalists granted permission to be there on the night, Sunrise reporter David Woiwod had one of the hottest tickets in town and he made sure he got the most out of it.

Spotting British actor Daniel Kaluuya, who won Best Supporting Actor on the night, David decided to yell him down on the red carpet, an awkward moment on the mainly quiet carpet .

“Hey Daniel, it’s Australia, mate. Hey Daniel, can we have a quick chat mate?” David could be seen shouting on screen.

While Daniel initially cruzed on by passed David, his team caught up with him and turned him around to speak to David, who seemed just as shocked as anyone that the actor actually decided to stop for a chat.

Daniel seemed delighted to be chatting with live TV, saying: “I can say whatever I want”.

He went on to say the red carpet this year is “so much more chilled, so much more relaxed” with David saying: “So I really stood out when I started yelling at you did I?”

Daniel replied saying: “Yeah it was just like, who’s this guy?”

After a few minutes chatting about Daniel’s film Judas and the Black Messiah, David turned back around to the camera and said: “Well that actually worked there you go guys.”

Kyle and Matt Doran couldn’t get over the scoop, with Kylie saying “that was so good” and Matt giving David “15 out of 10”.

“Absolutely nailed it. It was perfection,” Matt continued.

Later in the night, after Daniel won his Oscar, an X-rated joke he made during his speech went viral online.

The actor started with a prayer, and went on to talk about how amazing it is to "be alive" before going on to thank his parents - with his mum and sister in the audience - for 'making that happen'.

"My mum, my dad - they had sex. It's amazing!" he said, as the camera panned to his family, whose faces said it all!
