Sunrise's Nat Barr 'gutted' by Sam Armytage's 'snarky' tweet

Sunrise's Natalie Barr was reportedly left "gutted" by her predecessor Samantha Armytage's comments that the host "wanted the job forever".

Nat was apparently surprised to hear Sam making such 'snarky' comments about her after the pair had worked together on the Seven show for years, according to New Idea.

"No one was more shocked and saddened over Sam's comments than Nat," a source claimed. "She is gutted and has no idea why the snarkiness continues, even though Sam has been gone [from Sunrise] for months."

They added the Sunrise team is attempting to "make light" of the situation.

"It has got to the stage where the Sunrise gang have a bit of a laugh wondering what little surprise bombshell Sam is going to drop next.

"But truthfully, Nat just wants it to end and be put to bed."

Despite the drama, the host's position as co-anchor on the breakfast show is reportedly very safe with Seven management said to be happy with both her performance and ratings.

Last week, Sam did an interview with The Kyle and Jackie O Show, where she was asked about her relationship with Nat after the host revealed they weren't that close off-camera.

Sam appeared to be surprised by the question and dodged it by saying: "Yeah, well, look, I mean it's better to be talked about than not, isn't it in life?"

She then took a little swipe at Nat, adding: "I thought everyone might forget about me when I was having my little sabbatical, but it seems they're not, you know?"

Following the radio interview, Sam took to Twitter to add to what she said on-air, writing: "Look... I’m out. Nat’s wanted the job, forever.. & she’s finally got it. She just needs to get on & enjoy it - & forget about me..(even though I’m unforgettable.) #peaceout."

It was also believed Sam didn't get along with co-anchor David 'Kochie' Koch.

Sam seemingly confirmed this by not inviting Kochie or Nat to her farewell lunch on her final day at Sunrise.

Instead, she was joined at Catalina in Sydney's Rose Bay by her new husband Richard Lavender, Sunrise executive producer Michael Pell and Morning Show host Kylie Gilles.

Kochie later admitted on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that he and Nat "didn't know about it".

He quickly went on to play down the alleged snub, saying that the network had planned a 'big postponed Christmas party' the following day.

Nat piped up to say that the Sunrise team had been 'drinking all through the morning' on Sam's last day.

Despite following most of her Channel Seven colleagues, Sam doesn't follow Nat or Kochie on Instagram.
