“Suits L.A.”'s Stephen Amell Reveals His Character's Easter Egg Connection to Harvey Specter — and If He'll Make a Return
"There's a picture of a young Ted Black with what can only be a young Harvey Specter, so there's clearly a history between the characters," Amell teased
Stephen Amell is gearing up for the upcoming Suits spinoff's arrival!
Catching up with Entertainment Weekly for its latest cover story about all things Suits L.A., Amell reflected on starring in the new series as a high-powered attorney named Ted Black — and the character's special connection to the lead of the original show.
"You'll notice behind my desk that there's a picture of a young Ted Black with what can only be a young Harvey Specter [Gabriel Macht], so there's clearly a history between the characters," Amell, 43, revealed.
"We came up together in the D.A.'s office. So if I was going to have anyone [from the original cast] come back, I would want it to be Gabriel," he continued. "I would really hope that that happens, because I am very much a fan of his character and I think that that dynamic would be something that the viewers would really enjoy."

His wish might already be coming true. In November, Macht hinted at his return to the spinoff in an Instagram post showing his outfit, which featured a shirt with the initials “H.S.” stitched in and shoes that had the name “Harvey” in the soles.
“When an old friend is in need… it’s time to take care of things and make those very ‘things’ right,” he captioned the upload.
Amell is best known for his role in the CW’s Arrow, a superhero series that ran from 2012 until 2020. He later appeared in a spinoff of its own, called The Flash, which he said gave him insight into the joy of reigniting a beloved character.
"When [executive producer] Greg Berlanti called me up and asked me if I wanted to come back to The Flash, he said, 'You helped build this show by what you did on Arrow, so it seems only fitting that you would come back and take a victory lap,'" Amell explained. "We want to play the hits. We want to have a lot of fun. We are only sitting in Black Lane Law group conference room at the moment right now because of Gabriel and Patrick [J. Adams] and Sarah [Rafferty] and Meghan [Markle] and Rick [Hoffman] and all of the people that comprised the original Suits cast. So all of them are welcome."
"I'm not the one that invites them, but as far as I'm concerned, all of them are welcome,” he jokingly added.

Aaron Korsh, who created Suits and is spearheading Suits L.A., told EW that "there may end up being several points of connection" to Suits within the spinoff, but said, "I just don't know yet what they are.”
Still, Amell noted that Suits L.A., which will also feature Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt and Bryan Greenberg, is a new show with fresh storylines, and he hopes fans will appreciate that.
"We're going to do our own thing, and that's okay," he says. "We do things on this show that they couldn't do on the original."
According to the Suits L.A. logline, the story will follow Amell’s Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York,” who relocated to Los Angeles to reinvent himself as a lawyer.
“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,” the synopsis reads. “Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved."
