Strict royal birth rule Kate Middleton was forced to follow

As a member of the British Royal family, there are many rules to follow.

When Kate Middleton gave birth to her first son Prince George a little over 10 years ago, she was forced to follow strict royal protocol.

One major rule was that no one was allowed to know about George’s birth until the late Queen Elizabeth II had been informed.

This meant that Kate Middleton was prohibited from telling even her closest friends and family until it was confirmed that the Queen had been told.

According to Marie Claire, even those in the delivery room were sworn to strict secrecy.

After George’s birth, Prince William was the one to call his grandmother, using a secret encrypted phone, to break the news. The monarch is also required to approve the names of their direct heirs, and luckily, Prince George’s name was a hit.

Later in the day, news of George's arrival was made public, with a town crier revealing his sex and an easel that was placed outside of Buckingham Palace containing his birth statistics.
