“Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown quietly marries Jake Bongiovi

The actress and the model son of rocker Jon Bon Jovi revealed their engagement on Instagram last year.

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi have tied the knot.

The Stranger Things star and the model son of rocker Jon Bon Jovi married in a quiet wedding ceremony last weekend, PEOPLE has confirmed. According to The Sun, which first reported the nuptials, Bon Jovi and wife Dorothea were in attendance, as were Brown's parents.

"They are planning a bigger ceremony in the U.S. later this year but now they have legally married and done all the paperwork," a source told the British publication. "It was a very low-key, romantic affair with their closest family with them as they said their vows."

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Brown, Bongiovi, and Bon Jovi for comment.

Brown, 20, and Bongiovi, 21, first sparked dating rumors in 2021 and were making red carpet appearances together by 2022. Despite their youth, Brown referred to Bongiovi as "my partner for life" in December 2022. In April 2023, the couple teased their engagement with a photo of them embracing, with Brown sporting a ring on her finger.

Weeks later, Bon Jovi spoke about his son's young love in an interview with Andy Cohen. "I don't know if age matters," the rock star said. "You know, if you find the right partner and you grow together, I think that would be my advice really, is growing together is wise. Growing together, and so I think that all of my kids have found the people that they think they can grow together with, and we like 'em all."

Brown's Stranger Things costar Matthew Modine also revealed earlier this year that he was planning to officiate the couple's wedding. "I have one of those licenses to get people married," he told Access Daily, "and Millie thought it'd be great, and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife." He added, "It's such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony."

Brown recently admitted on The Tonight Show that she nearly lost her engagement ring just after receiving it because she was so excited. She and Bongiovi were scuba diving at the time.

"He puts the ring on my hand," she recalled, "and, as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger [and] plummets — like, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie. Jake threw himself so deep the diver was like, 'You can't do that! Your ears! Literally, your brain will explode!' He throws himself. He does a cinematic grab, opens, and he saved the ring."
