Starbucks Is Giving Away Free Coffee This Week
No strings attached—yes, really.
There are a few weeks throughout the year when the case of the Mondays hit extra hard—like the day after Easter, mornings after the big award shows, and, of course, the first Monday of the new year. However, no Monday is as detested as the one after Super Bowl Sunday.
The day after the Super Bowl is widely known as one of the highest reported "sick days" of the year—and not just in the cities whose teams are playing. More than 22 million Americans are expected to call in sick the Monday after Super Bowl, according to a study, enough that an Indiana legislature has proposed a bill to make the day a statewide holiday. Even the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, has said he wouldn’t mind moving the big game to Presidents Day weekend so most people would get following Monday off.
However, until that happens, we’ll have to find ways to push through Monday morning after Super Bowl LIX. This year, though, Starbucks is making it extra easy.
Starbucks Is Giving Away Free Coffee on Monday
On Monday, Feb. 10, Starbucks will give away free cups of coffee all day for a caffeinated pick-me-up on the house.
Customers can receive a free tall (12-ounce) hot or iced brewed coffee anytime at their local Starbucks. The deal can be redeemed both in-store and online via Starbucks’ app.
To redeem your free coffee, you’ll simply need to be a Starbucks Rewards member. Then, you can find the “Starbucks Monday” coupon in your Starbucks app to place an online order or simply tell the barista you want to redeem the coupon if you order in the drive-thru or at a café.
The offer isn’t valid for Starbucks’ cold brew, nitro cold brew, or Reserve coffee, and any customizations—including syrups, sauces, and cold foams—may cost extra.
If you aren’t a Starbucks Rewards member, you can join for free on Starbucks’ website or app. If you sign up by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Feb. 9, the coupon will automatically be added to your app on Feb. 10. If you don’t sign up by Super Bowl Sunday, that’s OK. You can still sign up on Monday, but you’ll need to order in person with a barista to enjoy the free coffee.
This is Starbucks’ first big promotion since it hired its new CEO, Brian Niccol, in 2024. Niccol has promised many changes—including “for here” glassware and free refills for café customers—to fulfill his “Back to Starbucks” mission. So, hopefully, the free Monday coffee will be the first of many new Starbucks perks this year.
