Star, 50, proposes to girlfriend, 23, after five years together

Actor Dane Cook has proposed to his 23-year-old girlfriend after the pair had been dating for five years.

The 50-year-old told PEOPLE he was "so ready to ask" fitness instructor Kelsi Taylor to marry him when he popped the question on July 13.

Dane and Kelsi got together when he was 45 and she was 18. The couple have only just announced their exciting news despite having been engaged for weeks.

"The secret's out! Dane Cook and I are engaged," she posted on Instagram.

"A couple weeks ago, Dane got on one knee and asked me to be his wife and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect moment. I love this man and I love spending my life with him. I can't wait for what's to come."

Dane shared a video of the pair together on his own Instagram account with the caption, "She said yes!".

In another photo he shared of him kissing Kelsi's cheek, he said making her laugh is his "favourite sound".

"I love her with all my heart. We've made beautiful memories over the last five years. There's so much to celebrate as we look forward together," he said.

Dane told PEOPLE of the moment he asked his young fiancée to marry him.

"I was asking my best friend, the woman who I've shared some of the greatest times of my life with, to marry me so we can start the next chapter of our lives together," he said.

"I was also thinking of how absolutely stunning she looked."

Kelsi added the second he reached into his back pocket for the ring her "stomach flipped".

"I couldn't have asked for the moment to have been more perfect. All that was going through my brain was, 'Wait, is this actually happening right now? Is he proposing?' "

Many people took to Instagram to share their congratulations.

"So excited for you both," one said.

"Most beautiful couple. Congratulations sweet girl, you're going to make the most stunning bride," another added.
