Stanley Tucci 'Would Be So Happy' to Reprise “Devil Wears Prada” Role in Sequel: 'I Know They're Working On It'
Tucci played fashion magazine editor Nigel Kipling in the 2006 hit, which starred Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway
Gird your loins! Stanley Tucci could be back on screen as fashionista Nigel Kipling in a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.
In a new interview with Variety, Tucci, 64, was asked to give an update on the rumored follow-up to the hit 2006 comedy set at fictional fashion magazine Runway.
“I know they’re working on it,” he told the outlet. “If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I’ll go to the actor’s prison or something.”
He added that making the original movie, which was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel “was one of the best experiences ever.”

The comedy starred Meryl Streep as demanding Runway editor Miranda Priestly, Emily Blunt as Priestly’s main assistant, and Anne Hathaway as the hapless second assistant who gets a Cinderella makeover courtesy of Nigel.
Talk of a sequel has ticked up in recent months. In December, at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Blunt said there were “rumblings” of another movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“There is stuff churning around. But I don’t know if I can confirm anything. But we would all be delighted,” she continued.
Tucci also spoke with PEOPLE in October about potentially reuniting with Streep and his former costars.
"I think we would have one of the best times ever,” said Tucci, who was in the dark about what the story would consist of.

"I don't really know. I haven't [heard] about the plot or anything. I really haven't,” he said.
Though Tucci had a wonderful time on the original movie — which earned more than $300 million worldwide — he recently told Vanity Fair he struggled to find work afterwards.
“After The Devil Wears Prada, I couldn’t get a job, and I didn’t quite understand that, but that’s just the way it was. So I went and did stuff that I didn’t necessarily want to do, but I did it,” the Conclave star said.
