‘Spider-Noir’ Series at Amazon Casts Karen Rodriguez (EXCLUSIVE)

“Spider-Noir” has cast Karen Rodriguez in a series regular role, Variety has learned exclusively.

The series, which is the first live-action project to feature the character Spider-Man Noir, was picked up to series in May. Rodriguez will appear alongside series lead Nicolas Cage as well as series regulars actor Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Jack Huston.

Per the official logline, the show “tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

Rodriguez previously appeared in the Amazon series “Swarm.” She is also known for her roles in shows like “Acapulco” and “Shining Girls” at Apple TV+, “Power Book IV: Force” at Starz, and “The Big Leap” at Fox. She will next be seen in the Starz drama series “The Hunting Wives.”

She is repped by Lasher Group, Gray Talent Group, and Del Shaw Moonves.

As previously reported, “Spider-Noir” will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then globally on Amazon Prime Video. The series hails from Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. They developed the series with the “Into the Spider-Verse” team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, all of whom will also executive produce. Harry Bradbeer will executive produce and direct the first two episodes. Pascal executive produces via Pascal Pictures, with Lord and Miller executive producing via Lord Miller. Aditya Sood and Dan Shear of Lord Miller also executive produce. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with Lord Miller currently under an overall deal at Sony.
