Drake and Sophie Brussaux welcomed their only child together in October 2017
Drake has nothing but love for the mother of his child, Sophie Brussaux.
The “God's Plan” rapper and the former adult film star were briefly linked in January 2017, shortly after his breakup with Jennifer Lopez. However, their relationship only came to light when Brussaux claimed that May that she was three-and-a-half months pregnant with Drake's child, and hired two New York City lawyers to begin the proceedings to prove paternity.
Brussaux gave birth to a son, Adonis, in October 2017, and a paternity test confirmed that the child was Drake's the following March. However, it wasn’t until rapper Pusha T’s diss track, “The Story of Adidon,” came out in May 2018 that the world learned about Adonis.

Despite their initial ups and downs, Drake and Brussaux have since developed a supportive co-parenting relationship. On the first track of his 2021 album, Certified Lover Boy, Drake gave an update on where he stands with Brussaux, rapping, “Co-parent of the year, we figured out a rapport."
So who is Sophie Brussaux? Here’s everything to know about the mother of Drake’s son Adonis and her relationship with the rapper.
She is from France
Brussaux was raised in France, where she currently lives. Many of her Instagram posts are in both French and English, and she has been teaching her son French as well. In January 2022, Drake shared a sweet video of Adonis showing off his bilingual skills.
In July 2021, Brussaux painted Marianne of France in the French flag colors of red, white and blue, sharing the painting on Instagram. “Marianne of France is the personification of the values of the Republic: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,” she wrote in the caption.
She was a former adult film star and is now an artist
Brussaux started her career off as an adult film star, but has since become an artist. She often posts her art on both her personal and professional Instagram accounts, the latter of which is mainly dedicated to snaps of her canvases.
In November 2019, she painted a portrait of Pope Francis and was able to present it to him personally.
“Such an honor to meet Pope Francis and gift him the portrait I painted for him in honor of his concert with and for the poor on Nov 9 2019,” she wrote in the caption of her post commemorating the special moment. “I used green, the color of hope, with red, the color designated by @undp to fight poverty.”
For Father’s Day in 2022, Brussaux painted a massive portrait of Drake with Adonis.
She gave birth to her and Drake’s son, Adonis, in October 2017
Adonis was born on Oct. 11, 2017, though Drake was not in his life at the time since they were still in the midst of establishing paternity. In “Papi’s Home,” Drake rapped about missing the first few months of his son’s life, having experienced something similar with his own father.
"I walked out on my only son," he rapped, adding, "See your mother raised a fine young man/Daddy's home/And I know I missed so much of your life."
Adonis now splits his time between living with his mom in France and visiting Drake in Toronto and Los Angeles. Brussaux affectionately calls her son the “greatest little human in the known universe and beyond,” per her Instagram bio.
She and Drake had a rocky start to their parenthood journey
After Brussaux claimed that she was pregnant with his child in May 2017, Drake denied the allegations — and allegedly texted her to get an abortion, she told TMZ.
"I've seen the text messages and they do exist," Brussaux's publicist Jonathan Hay told PEOPLE at the time.
In June 2018, Drake confirmed that Adonis was indeed his child after receiving the results of a DNA test the previous March. In his track, “March 14,” the rapper addressed the situation and his strained relationship with Brussaux.
"She's not my lover like Billie Jean but the kid is mine/Sandi used to tell me all it takes is one time, and it took was one time/S---, we only met two times, two times," he rapped, referring to his mom Sandi Graham.
They've developed a strong co-parenting dynamic
After the paternity was settled, Drake and Brussaux worked on their relationship and got to a stronger place as both co-parents and friends.
"I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, we've had our moments," Drake told LeBron James on his unscripted HBO series The Shop in October 2018. "I do want to be able to explain to my son what happened. But I don't have any desire for him to not love his mother.”
He continued, “I don't ever want the world to be angry at his mother. We have found ourselves in a situation and we are both equally responsible. Now, I'm just really excited to be a great father.”
"No matter what happens, I have unconditional love for the mother of my child because I want him to love his mother and I have to project that energy," Drake added.
Their relationship continued to improve as Drake invited Brussaux to the Paris stop of his tour in March 2019. In June 2022, Brussaux said she was “grateful” to Drake “for the amazing father you are to our son” while wishing him a happy Father’s Day.
She was mentioned in the drama between Drake and Kendrick Lamar
In April 2024, several rappers became embroiled in the drama between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, with artists like Future and A$AP Rocky voicing their issues on Metro Boomin and Future’s album We Still Don’t Trust You.

In one song, “Show of Hands,” Rocky, whose birth name is Rakim Mayers, alleges that he had sex with Brussaux before Drake did. “N—-- in they feelings over women, what, you hurt or something/ I smash before you birthed, son, Flacko hit it first, son,” he said, referring to himself.
Drake seemingly responded on his diss track, “Family Matters,” where he addressed numerous disses that came his way.
“Rakim talkin' s--- again/Gassed 'cause you hit my BM first, n----, do the math, who I was hittin' then?” he rapped, with fans interpreting this to insinuate that Drake was referring to his brief ties to Rihanna, Rocky’s current partner, that occurred at the same time as Rocky’s alleged hook up with Brussaux.
