Sonia Kruger 'getting death stares' as she jumps Oscars red carpet fence for Sunrise

Channel 7 shocked even themselves when they got to brush shoulders with the stars.

It’s the biggest night of the year for Hollywood, with all of the stars taking to the Oscars red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. And Channel 7’s Sunrise managed to nab some unprecedented access to the A-listers on the night, with Aussie star Sonia Kruger revealing she was “getting death stares”.

“You can see that everybody has now been corralled behind what we call in television, I think the technical term for this is pig pen,” Sonia said, pointing to the world’s media behind the media wall.

“Now the weird thing is Eddie, we have exclusive access to be out her on the carpet so we are getting death stares from these people who are like ‘why is Australian television allowed on the carpet like this?’," she told Edwina Bartholomew back in the studio.

Sonia went on to say they weren’t quite sure how they got the access but they were going to “fully exploit it”.

Taking to Instagram, Sunrise uploaded a video of Sonia on the carpet, captioned: "Sonia Kruger has jumped the fence where the rest of the media is forced to stay as she prepares to ready to rub shoulders with the world's biggest stars on the champagne carpet at this year's Academy Awards."

The 57-year-old looked stunning as she walked the champagne-coloured carpet in a glittering purple strapless dress.

Although it seems perhaps Sonia wasn’t quite sure how close she would be getting to the stars, as earlier in the show she showed off her fluffy slippers she was wearing underneath her gown.

It comes after Sonia sparked rumours last month that she is set to appear on The Real Housewives of Sydney.

According to the Daily Mail, Sonia caught the eye of Bravo boss Andy Cohen when she sat down and interviewed him for the launch of 7Bravo, a new free-to-air channel.

The event, which was held at Catalina in Sydney’s Rose Bay, was also attended by Christian Wilkins, Nadia Fairfax and Bek Halliday.
