Donald Trump scored a decisive win this week, and the cast of Saturday Night Live wants him to know… they had his back the whole time!
This Saturday’s post-election episode kicked off with SNL cast members Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson and Heidi Gardner somberly facing the camera and recounting Trump’s victory, adding that many Americans found it “shocking and even horrifying,” and now Trump has “no guardrails” keeping him from taking vengeance on his political enemies. So, as Thompson put it, they want to make one thing clear to the newly elected Trump: “We have been with you all along.”

They took turns flattering and fawning over Trump, with Sarah Sherman and Marcello Hernández joining in to assure him: “Every single person on this stage voted for you.” Colin Jost chimed in, too, referring to Trump as “Your Honor” and agreeing with him that the “mainstream media… Michael Che” had been spinning things all wrong. If Trump is keeping a list of enemies, Hernández emphasized, “we should not be on that list!” They did, though, point out that the three new SNL cast members voted for Harris, throwing them under the bus with a “Hail Trump.”
Sure, 92% of Black women voters opted for Harris, but Nwodim insists: “I was one of the proud 8 percent.” Then they brought out their new and improved impression: Hot Jacked Trump, played by James Austin Johnson with Rambo muscle arms and headband. (“They finally got the body right,” he marveled.) They also introduced Dana Carvey as a dancing Elon Musk before sending a sincere message to the young men who voted for Trump. Well, it was just the lyrics to “YMCA,” but hey, that’s one of Trump’s favorite songs!
Bill Burr hosted Saturday’s episode, the first to air since Tuesday’s election, where Trump defeated Harris by flipping a number of key states he lost to President Joe Biden in 2020. The Associated Press projected that Trump won the election at 5:38 am ET Wednesday after he clinched the crucial swing state of Wisconsin, giving him more than the 270 electoral votes needed to secure the presidency. He is also projected to win the popular vote, a feat no Republican has accomplished in 20 years. Trump promised that “we’re going to help our country heal” in an address to supporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
The Trump-Harris race has been a frequent target for SNL this season, with former cast member Maya Rudolph returning to reprise her Kamala Harris impersonation. Carvey popped in as well to play President Biden, with Andy Samberg as Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff and Jim Gaffigan as Harris’ running mate Tim Walz. Harris actually dropped by SNL herself last week for a sketch with Rudolph, leading NBC to later hand Trump equal time by airing 90 seconds of his campaign ads for free during its NASCAR and NFL coverage.
