Saturday Night Live‘s Chloe Fineman has no regrets about identifying Elon Musk as the star host that made her cry.

The 36-year-old posted an Instagram Story Tuesday night reflecting on the moment she went public. It comes just a day after Musk repeatedly made an evocative hand gesture during a speech at Trump’s inauguration.

Although Musk’s defenders have argued that he was simply making a “my heart goes out to you” gesture, plenty of critics have interpreted it as a Nazi salute.

“Remember when i got in trouble for calling out mr nazi salute? ya no regrets,” Fineman wrote.

Fineman’s Instagram Story referred to a November 2024 TikTok video of hers that she deleted shortly afterward. In it, Fineman identified Musk as a host who made her cry.

“You know what? I’m gonna come out and say at long last that I’m the cast member that he made cry. And he’s the host that made someone cry,” Fineman reportedly said.

She told Musk in the video, “If you’re gonna go on your platform and be rude, guess what? You made I, Chloe Fineman, burst into tears because I stayed up late writing a sketch. I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you had any questions and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny.’”

Fineman’s video seemingly answered a months-long mystery spurred by fellow cast member Bowen Yang, who mentioned in an August Watch What Happens Live! interview that one host had made “multiple cast members cry on Wednesday before the table read because he hated the ideas.”

Musk has remained unapologetic about the situation. He didn’t address Fineman’s claims directly, but he did post on X in response: “Frankly, it was only on the Thursday before the Saturday that ANY of the sketches generated laughs. I was worried,” Musk wrote. “I was like damn my SNL appearance is going to be so f---ing unfunny that it will make a crackhead sober!! But then it worked out in the end."

Musk has also not apologized for the apparent salute he made during his speech at Trump’s inauguration ceremony.

“Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired,” Musk posted on X.
