Slow Horses may be the title of the show, but Apple TV+ isn’t wasting any time with these renewals. The series has been already ordered for a six-episode sixth season, months ahead of its Season 5 premiere in 2025, TVLine has learned.

Created by Will Smith (no, not that one), Slow Horses stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the “brilliant but cantankerous leader” of a dysfunctional group of British intelligence agents. The principal cast also includes Jack Lowden as River Cartwright, Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner and Jonathan Pryce as David Cartwright.

“Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure,” says Jay Hunt, Apple TV+’s creative director for Europe.

According to the streamer, Season 6 “sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.” Season 4 concluded its run on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Smith won Slow Horses‘ first Primetime Emmy Award in 2024 — Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. The show was nominated in four other categories that same year: Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor (Oldman) and Supporting Actor (Lowden) in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
