Skittles Unveils New Flavor That Fans Say Makes Their 'Mouths Hurt Looking' at Them

A new flavor of Skittles is setting the internet ablaze.

The candy brand is expanding again, and this time, the new variety promises to pack an explosion of flavor–so much so that fans say just looking at the packaging makes their "mouths hurt."

On Monday, food blogger Markie Devo revealed that Skittles is "once again choosing the spicy route" with a limited-edition Fuego flavor. According to the influencer—who has gained a whopping 132,000 followers for regularly previewing and taste-testing new fast food and snack items—the new variety features five spicy, chili-lime-coated Skittles in the following flavors: lime, lemon, strawberry, grape and orange.

The Sept. 23 Instagram post received several fiery responses from fans following the brand and its lineup of growing releases, with one admitting, "My mouth already hurts looking at this 🤣."

Another, in disbelief, wrote, "There’s no way."

"First the freeze dried now this😭😭," a third quipped. "They're coming for everyone's side hustles."

"They did this a few years ago," a different Instagram user recalled of the Sweet Heat Skittles, which were first teased in 2017. "But the irony??? Mango where?! Mango goes so well with chili and lime." Several others echoed this response, with one adding, "That’s what I was thinking, no mango or watermelon?"

But don't get it twisted, despite fans' dramatic reactions, they seem pretty pumped that the Mars Wrigley-owned brand is thinking outside the box.

"Omg these look interesting!!" someone else exclaimed. "I loved the sweet heat ones, I brought home like 20 bags from the sweets & snacks expo the year those were revealed 😂."

The real question, according to those looking most forward to getting their hands on a bag (or two), is just how spicy the Skittles Fuego are. "Now we just gotta see how spicy they are compared to the street vendors," one fan joked.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like prospective buyers can get this new variety at just any retailer. Per information shared with Markie_devo and a broken landing page on the platform reviewed by Parade, the new Skittles will only be available in 3.4-ounce packages. They appear to be part of an exclusive collaboration with the online food and alcohol retailer GoPuff, which is set to launch on Monday, Sept. 30.
