Silo Adds Ashley Zukerman, Jessica Henwick for Season 3 — In What Year Will It Be Set?
In the immediate wake of releasing Silo‘s Season 2 finale, Apple TV+ on Friday morning formally announced the first new castings for Season 3.
Aussie actor Ashley Zukerman (Designated Survivor) will fill the role of Daniel, a young and hungry congressman, while English actress Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones) will play Helen, a whip-smart reporter.

SILO BOOK SPOILERS AHEAD! In What Year Is Season 3 Set?
As recently noted by TVLine, Silo Season 3 is poised to be flashback-heavy, seeing as the second Hugh Howey novel on which is based, Shift, has huge chunks set 300 years prior — back when W.O.O.L. (World Order Operation Fifty), the project that begat the silos, first took shape.
In the Shift novel, a freshman Congressman from Georgia, Donald Keene, figures prominently.
TVLine this week spoke with Silo TV series showrunner Graham Yost about his plan for Season 3, and exactly when the first flashbacks are set.
“I said I wanted it to be ‘a wink into the future.’ I didn’t want to have to worry about designing futuristic cars,” he said. “It’s basically contemporaneous with us, give or take five years in the future.”

Yost also expounded on how Season 3 of the Apple TV+ series — which is already renewed for a fourth/final season — will differ from Shift.
“We came up with a different story to get us to roughly the same point,” Yost said, including “a different approach to the Daniel and Helen story.
“There’s a bit of a name change in there, for various reasons,” he said, “but we wanted to play up the romance and make it more of a political conspiracy thriller.”
TV SPOILERS AHEAD! How Did Silo Season 2 Finale Set Up Season 2 Flashbacks?
If you have already streamed the Silo Season 2 finale, you got a first taste for not only what Season 3 will look like — but for Zukerman and Henwick’s characters. Following the climactic events inside of Silo 18, the screen briefly faded to black, then returned to a contemporary street in Washington, D.C., where Zukerman’s Daniel arrived at a bar to meet, for a first time, Henwick’s Helen.
We learned that Daniel graduated from the University of Georgia with a master’s degree in engineering, and then went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers; Helen, meanwhile, attended the University of Oregon.
The two obliquely talk of a “dirty bomb” and whether Daniel knew “anyone who was affected.” Helen, a reporter, then cuts to the chase on the nature of their non-“date,” saying, “I think the people you work for,” his constituents, “need to know if there are plans to strike back against Iran, whether or not there was a radiological weapon attack against the United States.” Daniel, suddenly uneasy, said, “I better go,” slipped on his coat and left — but not before giving Helen something he “panic-bought at convenience store” on his way over….
