At the 58th annual Country Music Association Awards, Shaboozey, 29, performed a medley of his songs "Highway" and "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" to an excited crowd at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. "CMAs, can we turn this place into the greatest dive bar in the world?" he asked the crowd before transitioning between songs.

Shaboozey, whose real name is Collins Chibueze, was nominated for new artist of the year and single of the year for "A Bar Song," which was released in April. The song hit the No.1 slot on the Billboard Hot 100 over the summer, and he had the best response.

"HAPPY A BAR SONG DAY. TAKE A DOUBLE SHOT OF WHISKEY 4 ME!" Shaboozey posted in July to celebrate his accomplishment.

The "Let It Burn" singer told PEOPLE about his rapid rise to country stardom in June. "I've been doing music for such a long time, I've put a lot of time and years into it," Shaboozey said at the time. "I put so much into it that I feel like it’s just cool to see it working. Everybody hopes it works. To see it actually working, it’s unreal."

He also said that "it feels like a dream." "It feels like I'm definitely going to wake up at some point and be like, ‘damn, that s--- was a dream?’”

Shaboozey also said that "you never know" and "you can't know" if songs become successful like "A Bar Song" did.

"You just put out these songs [hoping] that consistency will get you there," he continued. "It's about making the song and how the people react to it. It's cool to just see it actually work out that way."
