Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamed of thicker, fuller hair. As a baby, my mom told me my blonde hair was so thin that I looked bald. And, though my hair eventually darkened and thickened up slightly with age, it was still too thin to hold my ’80s-style neon shoestring and banana hair clips in place, so I had to settle for drab hairbands and scrunchies.

As an adult, my hair remains thin and seems to be getting even thinner (yet another unfortunate inevitability of aging), so I began testing out shampoos for thin hair (and other products) that could add a bit of a boost. The best so far? Divi’s Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner duo.

What I love about the set is that both formulas are super gentle, so it’s not stripping nutrients from my hair or gunking it down with a bunch of impossible-to-pronounce chemicals. The result is a healthy scalp and super shiny hair that is silky-soft and has a bit of extra lift and bounce to it.

My hairdresser also told me that even non-sulfate shampoos can strip away color if they contain tea tree oil because it can be too harsh. As such, I was nervous to try Divi (which contains tea tree oil) right after my color treatment, but when I began using it two months later, I didn’t notice any color stripping.

Before finding Divi, I paid nearly twice as much for another high-end brand of color-safe volumizing shampoo that I didn’t like as much (I won’t name names). While I loved how soft and full my hair looked with the other brand, the poorly designed bottle it came in made it extremely difficult to get the shampoo and conditioner out.

I also had to use a ton of it to wash my shoulder-length hair, which meant I used up the already-pricey bottle quickly. Because the user experience was so poor (and the price so high), I decided not to order it again. With the Divi products, I’m easily able to pump a squeeze or two out without struggling at all.

If you’re sick of limp hair, whether it’s color-treated or not, I highly recommend trying Divi Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner.
