“Saturday Night” Trailer Rewinds to 1975 for Uncanny Look at “SNL”'s Chevy Chase, John Belushi and More

'Saturday Night' is in theaters Oct. 11, exactly 49 years after 'Saturday Night Live' first aired on NBC

Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!

On Aug. 8, the first trailer debuted for the movie about the 90 minutes that preceded the first-ever episode of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 11, 1975.

Exactly 49 years after the now-iconic sketch comedy series first aired on NBC, director Jason Reitman (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) is taking audiences behind the scenes of how the series' creator Lorne Michaels and its original cast and collaborators came together to put the series premiere before the clock rang 11:30.

The trailer showcases a young Michaels, played by The Fabelmans' Gabrielle LaBelle, as he tries to place the finishing touches on a live television variety comedy show starring a group of unknown performers that was not guaranteed any success.

Full of humor, chaos and the magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, we count down the minutes in real time until we hear those famous words…."
