Sashi crowned 2018 MasterChef winner
After a season of whipping up a fine selection of culinary treats, Australia’s MasterChef winner’s crown was presented to Sashi Cheliah on Tuesday night.
The father-of-two, known for his speciality in Singaporean-inspired cuisine, defeated opponent Ben Borsht in the dramatic grand finale.
Sashi scored a whopping 93, while Ben landed 77 in terms of scores from judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris, Matt Preston and guest Heston Blumenthal.
It was an especially important night for Sashi and Ben, as they competed for the ultimate prize while their loved ones watched on from the balcony.
For Sashi, it was all about doing his family proud, as he chose to cook chilli-based dishes his mother had taught him how to make.
Meanwhile Ben, whose parents also proudly watched on, kept with his seafood theme he’s famously adopted throughout the season.
