Sarah Harris shares BTS look at first night on The Project: 'Nervous'

Following Carrie Bickmore’s departure from The Project last year, new host Sarah Harris officially made her debut on the current affairs program on Sunday night sitting alongside Hamish Macdonald, Rachel Corbett and fellow newcomer Michael Hing.

The former Studio 10 host, who will be joining the panel five nights a week, shared a behind-the-scenes look at her first show on Instagram and admitted she was feeling “nervous” about the new gig.

“It’s my first day, ah!” she said in the clip. “I’m a little bit nervous but so excited. Obviously looking like a little bit of a hot mess, but I’m about to go to makeup.”

Sarah then swapped her floral dress for a $460 Reiss white tuxedo-style dress and put on a full face of makeup before heading to the news desk.

“Almost there! We’re on set, on the desk, ready to go!” she said. “See you soon!”

Sarah also shared a gallery of snaps from her first show on Instagram alongside the caption: “First Sunday Project for 2023 done. Thanks for making me feel so welcome at @theprojecttv.

“And huge chookas to my other TV family at @studio10au, who are back live and dangerous at the new time of 10am today! Might even pop in and say hi…”

'Great show'

Following the episode, a number of viewers took to social media to share their approval and congratulate Sarah.

“Awesome start on The Project, Sarah. You look really comfortable on the desk,” one person wrote, followed by another who added, “Great show Sarah! You are a good fit for @theprojecttv”.

“You were born for this gig,” a third said, while a different user shared, “You were terrific Sarah”.

“3 mins in and @SarahHarris has proven to be the perfect choice of host,” someone else tweeted. “Funny and engaging… but this is no surprise to @Studio10au viewers. Well done legend!”
