The hosts vying for Sarah Harris' Studio 10 job: 'Liven things up'

After Sarah Harris was announced to be taking over as host of The Project following Carrie Bickmore's departure, people have been wondering who will fill in her role on Studio 10. There are reportedly a number of candidates who are keen on the role, including Studio 10's entertainment presenter Angela Bishop, 55, who has expressed interest.

Meanwhile, Jessica Rowe, 52, and Denise Drysdale, 74, could also return to the show, according to TV commentator Rob McKnight, who also happened to create and produce the show.

"Angela Bishop has proven time and time again she has what it takes to host the show," he told Woman's Day. "Jess and Denise had a great dynamic, so why not bring them back and really liven things up?"

According to the Daily Mail, a Ten insider hinted it's currently "do or die" for the the show, which needs to pick the best host possible to continue engaging viewers.

Some of the show's other former hosts include Ita Buttrose, Joe Hildebrand and Kerri-Anne Kennerley, with the source saying "executives have dug their heels in for too long", and the show is in desperate need of a makeover.

Sarah announced as Carrie's replacement

Sarah is set to join The Project next year for five nights a week, from Sunday to Thursday next year.

"I’m beyond excited to be joining one of Australia’s most iconic and agenda-driving shows," she said in a statement. "The Project does news like no other program in Australia and it’s exactly the kind of fun and fearless TV I love to make."

Sarah, who has hosted Studio 10 since 2013, will join Waleed Aly, who will host from Monday to Thursday.

Alongside Waleed and Sarah, Hamish Macdonald will continue to report from around the country and appear on the show every Friday and Sunday night. Georgie Tunny will also appear on the show on Friday nights.

"I can’t wait to share the desk with Waleed, Hamish, Georgie and the rest of the team," Sarah added. "I’m excited to shake it up in the new year!"
