Sarah 'Fergie' Ferguson speaks out after Princess Beatrice's secret wedding
Proud mum Sarah Ferguson, 60, has finally spoken publically after her eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, secretly wed her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on Friday.
Fergie took to her Instagram account on Wednesday to thank well-wishers for their kind messages and gush over ‘my Beatrice’s loving wedding to Dear Edo’.
“Thank you to all the very special and kind people that took the time and trouble to send amazingly caring and supportive messages,” she wrote.
“Never has a mother been more proud than the wedding of Eugenie and Jack, and again with my Beatrice’s loving wedding to Dear Edo. I am so lucky with my girls, and now the best sons-in-law,” she added.
The message was alongside a picture quote, which read: “Happiness cannot be travelled to, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”
Beatrice and ‘Edo’ say ‘I do’ in secret
The Duchess of York was just one of about 20 guests — including the Queen and Prince Philip — who attended Beatrice and Edoardo’s private ceremony in The Royal Chapel in Windsor Great Park.
The bride was walked down the aisle by her father, Prince Andrew, however neither he nor his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, have appeared in any wedding photos so far.
The Duke of York was forced to step back from his royal duties in November last year over his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Instead, photographs of the couple’s big day feature Beatrice’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh.
The Princess paid tribute to her royal gran by wearing a vintage dress owned by the Queen, as well as the same tiara the monarch donned for her own nuptials back in 1947.

The couple had been due to get married on 29 May at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace in London, followed by a reception in the garden of Buckingham Palace. However, the service was postponed due to the coronavirus.
It’s since emerged that Friday’s ceremony was planned in a short space of time by Beatrice and her mother.
‘Couldn't Bea happier’
Fergie’s loving message comes after Eugenie, Beatrice’s younger sister, shared her own warm words for the newlyweds on her own Instagram.
She wrote: “Couldn't Bea happier (get it) 🐝...
“What a complete joy and privilege to watch you, my beautiful big sister, walk down the aisle to dear Edo. I am so proud of you and I'm so excited to support you in the next chapter of your life. We are going to have so much fun together.
“Happy wedding day to you both xxxx”
Beatrice and property developer Edoardo have known each other for some time but are thought to have started dating after meeting again at Eugenie’s wedding in October 2018.
Amid swirling wedding rumours, the pair confirmed they were engaged in September last year.
