Samantha Jade ties the knot in intimate ceremony in Italy: 'We did it'

Almost four years after announcing their engagement, Samantha Jade has revealed that she and her fiancé Pat Handlin have finally tied the knot.

The Australian pop star and her partner exchanged vows in a very intimate ceremony in Venice, Italy with only a celebrant and their close friends Jules and Guy Sebastian in attendance, according to reports.

Taking to Instagram on Monday evening, Samantha shared a number of snaps of herself and Pat posing and kissing on a boat.

“We did it!” she captioned the post.

The X Factor winner stunned in a silk strapless gown with long sleeves, accessorised with Gucci heels and a large silk bow placed at the back of her blonde hair.

Pat, a former Sony Music Australia executive, wore a checkered suit jacket with a white shirt and pants and a large brown hat.

‘So happy’

Samantha’s Instagram post was quickly flooded with congratulatory comments from her famous followers, including Emma Watkins, Amy Shark, Mel Schilling, Jules Robinson and Beau Ryan.

“Congratulations gorgeous how beautiful,” her Celebrity Apprentice co-star Beck Zemek wrote. “You look amazing, and so happy.”

“Sammy & Pat!!! My heart is so full right now! I couldn’t think of two more amazing people that belong together! Love you both,” Carla from Bankstown shared, followed by Bronte Campbell who said, “Amazing! So stoked for you two”.

“Yay!!!! Congrats beautiful people. Love this so much,” Jackie ‘O’ Henderson replied, while Bonnie Anderson added, “Awww Sammy you look absolutely beautiful! Congratulations to you both!!!! So happy for you”.

Cancelled plans

Samantha announced her engagement to Pat in January 2019 after dating for almost two years and had to cancel their nuptials twice in 2020 due to the pandemic, which separated her from her family in Western Australia.

“Perth borders did not open for a long time, and so we started planning and then they just kept closing so I was like ‘there’s no point planning’, because it’s just, first of all, it’s really expensive, and second of all, it’s just heartbreaking to (cancel),” she told PerthNow in July.

Samantha and her close friend Jules Sebastian travelled to Europe earlier this month for what appeared to be a birthday celebration for Jules, with the pair both documenting their adventures on social media.

The trip began in Paris, France before they joined Guy in Venice, Italy around October 12 where Samantha and Pat tied the knot.
