Samantha Armytage's 'scary' encounter with 'bloody big' kangaroo

The Farmer Wants A Wife host's morning walk with her dog didn't exactly go to plan.

Samantha Armytage may be used to farm life, having moved to the Southern Highlands after quitting Sunrise, but she draws the line when it comes to some encounters with the local wildlife.

The 46-year-old took to her Instagram account yesterday after her morning walk was disrupted by a massive kangaroo.

“Richard had to come and pick us up…” Sam wrote in the snap, which showed Sam’s dog, Banjo, sitting in the middle of a road with her husband, Richard Lavender's car driving up behind them.

“Because there was a bloody big scary kangaroo..” she continued.

The next photo showed the kangaroo in question, which admittedly looked massive as it glared in Sam’s direction.

“Best pic I could get of him,” she wrote.

“But for scale - that fence is about 5”7.”

In 2021, Sam shocked viewers when she announced she was switching the bright lights of the Sunrise desk for life in the countryside.

At the time, she explained that she wanted to "take a break and find some peace and calm" after a difficult six months and now she’s said that while it was a huge gamble, it worked out perfectly.

In an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly, Samantha was asked what her greatest achievement in her life has been, with the star answering: “Rolling the dice and choosing happiness and peace, over a big job.”

On her final day on Sunrise, Sam hit out at the 'snarkiness' and 'bullying' she had faced during her time as host and in the interview, she said the best advice she’s ever received was “that people who bully you, are usually jealous; it doesn't matter whether your 16, or 46”.

However, the allure of the TV studio was apparently never far from Sam's eyes, with the star quitting her podcast, Something To Talk About, and becoming the new host of the Farmer Wants A Wife dating show in 2023.
