Sam’s Club Just Made a Huge Change to This Fan-Favorite Bakery Item and Shoppers Aren’t Happy: ‘Horrible’

Cinnamon rolls are a glorious invention, and whoever created them deserves a spot in the Baked Goods Hall of Fame. They’re the perfect mixture of soft, yeasty bread paired with buttery, sweet cinnamon and a thick, creamy frosting that makes your taste buds vibrate with every bite. Not only do they taste good, but they smell even better. And if we had it our way, we’d pump the smell of fresh-baked ones through our HVAC system in perpetuity.

As you can see, we take our cinnamon rolls seriously. And while we’ve never met one we don’t like, our standards for the beloved baked good couldn’t be any higher. As much as we love minis, cinnamon rolls should almost always be the size of our heads, and we’ll die on the hill that the centers must be doughy. That’s a non-negotiable. It’s no wonder Cinnabon takes so much of our paycheck.

That being said, Sam’s Club’s cinnamon roll offering is a formidable substitute if Cinnabon happens to be out of the way, but their new upgraded formula threatens to change that sentiment. According to @samsclublovers, the bulk grocery giant recently upgraded its formula for the iconic baked good, and fans don’t seem to be happy. The new and improved recipe appears to deliver slightly smaller cinnamon rolls, resulting in 10 pastries instead of the usual eight.

Additionally, the icing seems a bit sweeter than normal, leading the Instagrammer to conclude that they “prefer the old version better.” It seems they’re not alone in that sentiment with fans agreeing, “Unfortunately, they are terrible.” Another fan took things so far as to say, “Don’t bother.”

While it remains to be seen if the feedback from fans will entice Sam’s to change the recipe back, the good news is you can make bakery quality cinnamon rolls from the comfort of home thanks to the viral hack that we can’t stop using.
