The best pieces from Tu Clothing's autumn collection that are selling very fast
From trendy dresses to chic outerwear, I tried Sainsbury's new super affordable autumn clothing.
I don’t think I’m the only one who’s been surprised by Tu Clothing this year. The team at Sainsbury’s have thrown somewhat of a spanner in the works with how stylish and affordable their designs are, especially for autumn. From trench-style coats to flouncy blouses, versatile dresses to great-fitting jeans, the choice is one thing, but the quality, design and price is entirely another.
Throughout the year Tu Clothing has been dropping stylish design after stylish design, with some that look *so* premium, they sell out within days of landing online or in-stores. Earlier this year we covered a floral summer dress that sold out, got restocked, and sold out again after shoppers ran to snap it up. We also took a look at the fashion line's recent workwear collection made up of tailored blazers, bomber jackets and leopard print jeans, that also sold out in record time.

⭐️ Brown Wool-Look Trench Coat | £45 from Tu Clothing
The current bestseller in coats and jackets at Tu Clothing, I was surprised to even get my hands on this trench-style coat after seeing it go viral on TikTok, with various creators dubbing it the coat of the season. Available in three neutral colours: brown, olive green and grey, it was the actual quality of this design that I was most taken aback by — it doesn't just look expensive, it feels expensive.
Made from a heavy, wool-like blend of fabrics, it drapes beautifully towards the bottom and the smart classic collar, waist belt and tortoiseshell buttons give the coat a simple yet refined overall feel.
I'm a lot shorter than the models pictured on-site, but even at 5 ft 4 I loved the length on me. The coat hits perfectly just below my calves, for a chic, longline style.
After reading multiple reviews describing the coat as oversized, I went with a size 10 (I'm usually between a size 10 and 12) and I'm glad I did — the cut is definitely more relaxed, making it an ideal choice for the colder weather when you want to wear chunky knits underneath.
Practically the definition of versatile, you could wear this coat casually with jeans, or style it for an evening occasion, with a satin slip skirt or midi dress. I can definitely see myself throwing this on to elevate an otherwise quite basic outfit.
The perfect autumn coat, pick up this versatile style in a choice of colours, and enjoy a heavy, wool-like blend to keep warm.
⭐️ Navy Poplin Short Sleeve Midaxi Dress | £25 from Tu Clothing
The perfect balance between stylish and practical, pictures just don’t do this dress justice. Admittedly, at first, I didn't think this style was for me, but shortly after putting it on, it completely won me over.
The elasticated waist is a real winner, cinching in for the ultimate fit-and-flare, hourglass shape, making me feel super confident in how I looked. I couldn't believe how comfortable it was to wear, either. The top part is super soft, while the A-line skirt is really easy to move in.
The pockets are an added bonus, and the placement of them couldn't be better — sometimes side pockets can make you look wider at the hip, but these are seamless in their positioning, and don't stick out whatsoever.
Midaxi in length, the dress hits at my ankles and looks great with a pair of chunky trainers. Ideal as we transition into autumn and winter, you could even layer this little number with a jumper over the top. I see myself reaching for this over and over for the rest of the year, likely for daytime occasions, paired with my favourite white trainers and a crossbody bag (which is usually the iconic Uniqlo Round Mini Shoulder Bag).
Look effortless in this simple yet sophisticated dress, complete with short sleeves, an elasticated waist and flared skirt.
⭐️ Grey Wash Wide Leg Jeans | £20 from Tu Clothing
Like lots of women, I've always struggled with jeans. So much so, I actually went through a stage where I avoided wearing them altogether. That was until I found my now-favourite pair from Abercrombie, but they set me back quite the sum at £75 a pop. This pair, though, might just give my Abercrombie's a run for their money.
Picking up a 12S, the length of these are perfect on my 5 ft 4 frame, and they fit so nicely on the waist. A wide-leg style is always a winner, and I'm obsessed with how they fall — slightly slouchy, but not too baggy.
The grey wash colour (a shade I wouldn't normally choose) also surprised me, looking great with a plain black or white top. A lightweight denim that couldn't be comfier to wear, they almost feel like pyjama bottoms, which is a huge bonus if you're planning on wearing them all day.
These jeans are running dangerously low in stock, but I have spotted some other styles that look just as good, including these Dark Wash Ultra Wide Leg Denim Jeans (£22), which are the perfect shade for autumn.
Add to your denim collection with this lightweight pair of grey wash jeans, available to shop in a variety of sizes and lengths.
⭐️ Grey Crew Neck Cardigan | £18 from Tu Clothing
A good cardigan is a true wardrobe staple, and I firmly believe every woman's wardrobe should have one. Which is why I couldn't possibly turn down a chance at getting hold of this classic pick ready for autumn and winter. Great for layering, it can be dressed up or down and this one in particular couldn't be comfier.
Length-wise, it's slightly longer than other designs on the market, falling just below the waist, and feels a lot warmer than other cardigans I own thanks to a wool blend. Definitely something I see myself wearing this season, I love it styled with just the one button done up, or completely open.
The grey style I picked up has since sold out, but there are other equally as classic colours available, including: brown, cream, green, navy and oatmeal.
Elevate your wardrobe with this staple cardigan, super versatile in design and very cosy.
⭐️ Blue Stripe Ruffle Trim Blouse | £24 from Tu Clothing
Ruffled blouses are super on-trend this autumn, and this number was one I was particularly excited to try. Designed with a light blue striped pattern and complete with contrasting white lace and ruffle trim, it's got so many expensive-looking details.
As for the cut, it's more on the relaxed side with airy sleeves and a floaty bodice. I picked up my usual size, and it fitted perfectly. The elasticated cuffs add even more drama to the oversized sleeves, while the button detailing brings the whole blouse together.
Admittedly, I did struggle with how to style this blouse, so I decided to play it safe and pair it with the wide leg jeans. In hindsight, maybe something darker and slightly slimmer on the leg might have worked better. Some ballet flats could have looked super chic, too.
Go for something different with this ruffle blouse, designed with a light blue stripe pattern, and intricate detailing.
