The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards took place at UBS Arena in New York
Sabrina Carpenter has won her first-ever VMA!
Carpenter, 25, scored big at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards at UBS Arena in New York on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when she took home the award for her hit song "Espresso."
"I've literally never won one of these," she began her acceptance speech. "This is really special."
"The first people I want to thank are the fans," Carpenter said before she was met by a round of applause, and joked: "If you clap after everything I say they're gonna, they're gonna call me off the stage, so one second."
"But I just want to say you guys are the reason that I get to do what I love, but also the reason that we get to have so much fun and share music with each other," she added. "And I just feel so grateful to have the best, truly the best, fans in the world. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love you."
As she concluded her speech, she thanked her managers, her family, her "cats and dogs that are at home watching," as well as the people who made "Espresso" with her, including songwriters Steph Jones, Amy Allen, and Julian Bunetta. "I just, I love you guys so much. I love making music with you, and I can't wait to share more with the world."
Carpenter delivered a cheeky sign-off to her monologue by thanking the much-discussed lyric: "And thank you to that's that me espresso."
