Sabrina Carpenter Enlists Dolly Parton for ‘Please Please Please’ Remix, Set for ‘Short n’ Sweet’ Deluxe Edition

Blondes really do have more fun, especially in tandem, as the world may be about to re-learn when Sabrina Carpenter is joined by Dolly Parton for a freshened up version of “Please Please Please,” set for a deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning “Short n’ Sweet” album in February.

Other tracks set as bonuses for Carpenter’s upcoming expanded release include “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Busy Woman” and the intriguingly titled “Bad Reviews.”

Carpenter posted about the teaming on her Instagram account. “As a thank you for giving this album 2 Grammy’s :’),” she wrote, “short n’ sweet deluxe is now available for pre order.. and yes that does say featuring Miss Dolly Parton…. 💋💋💋she wouldn’t want me to swear but holy shit!!!!!”

That last remark does bring up the question of whether the chorus of the song will keep its “motherfucker” lyrics, given Parton’s well-known anti-cussing stance, or whether that line will be modified to allow for the superstar’s additional presence.

Carpenter won her first two Grammys for the album on Sunday night: best pop vocal album and, for its lead single and smash hit “Espresso,” best pop solo performance. The singer’s performance on the show — a medley of that song and “Please Please Please” — doubled as a slapstick-filled comedy routine: She took her place on a staircase as big as anything Busby Berkeley ever constructed, and then proceeded to do pratfalls, paying apparent homage to a 1970s Goldie Hawn special.

The two songs, released in rapid succession last spring, were among the biggest hits of 2024, with “Espresso” landing at No. 6 on the Variety Hitmakers Top 25 and “Please Please Please” at No. 14.
