Ryan Reynolds Just Revealed the Sex of His and Blake Lively's Fourth Child

The couple already share three daughters.

Ryan Reynolds is no longer exclusively a girl dad. On Friday, the actor revealed that his and wife Blake Lively's fourth child is a boy during an emotional conversation with a father who lost his son to suicide. 

In a clip posted to Instagram, Reynolds introduced John Bell—a Wrexham AFC fan who began raising awareness about mental health following his son Jake's death—and commended him for his strength amidst adversity. "The resilience it takes to, you know, put one foot in front of the other as many times as you've done it, and transmute that much grief into something powerfully useful,” Reynolds said. “I'm very grateful that you shared his story.” 

He then explained that he also is a father to a son. “I want to share with you that I too have a son and that if … boy, John," Reynolds continued. "If I love him one-tenth as much as you love Jake, I feel like I've done a pretty damn good job." 

In addition to their son, Olin, Reynolds and Lively are parents to three girls—James, 9, Inez, 7, and 4-year-old Betty. Earlier this week, Reynolds revealed the name of their youngest child while taking the stage at the New York City premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine. 

"I want to start by saying thank you to my wife Blake, who is here," he shared. "I want to thank my kids James, Inez, Betty, Olin, who are here: I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing—that is, the contents of this movie—that happens in your wondrous life." Reynolds sweetly added, "I love that my entire family is here."

Up until the reveal, both Lively and Reynolds refused to disclose Olin's name, with the Marvel star even once joking, "We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child's name is. And I will say this, we're still waiting."  

Swift is their children's godmother, after all. The pop star revealed the news while poking fun at Reynolds in an Instagram post promoting his new movie, writing: "Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids' sperm donor!"
