Why Rove McManus won't return to radio
Rove McManus hasn’t returned to radio since his show with Sam Frost was axed in mid 2017.
But with reports of a ‘mass exodus’ from the radio station earlier this year, is it time for the comedian to make his comeback to the airwaves?
“Oh god, no,” the 44-year-old tells Be, confirming he doesn’t have his eyes on joining the network’s current breakfast show with Em Rusciano, Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee.
“Look Grant’s in there, who knows, it’s probably done well for him. He’s got a Gold Logie nomination out of it,” Rove says.
“I don’t miss getting up at four o’clock in the morning.”
For the father-of-one, perhaps his fondest memory from his time hosting the brekkie show is the on-air dynamic he developed with his famous co-host.
“I do miss hanging out with Sam Frost everyday,” he admits.
“But no I’m back on television now. I’m happy enough there now.”
Rove, whose company Roving Enterprises produces Channel 10’s news and current affairs show The Project, is having a ball hosting his light entertainment program, Show Me The Movie.
Also airing on Chanel Ten, the program features actress Jane Harber and comedian Joel Creasey in supporting roles.
Rove co-hosted 2Day FM’s breakfast show alongside Sam Frost for a year, before the pair moved to a 7pm timeslot in January 2017, which lasted six months.
