Robert Pattinson photographs himself for the cover of GQ

Robert Pattinson shot his own GQ cover while isolating in London after coronavirus pandemic restrictions made a traditional photoshoot impossible.

The actor, who is the latest star to take on the role of Batman, was in London when production of the film The Batman was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unable to travel or attend a more typical photoshoot, Pattinson instead agreed to take on the role of photographer and shoot a collection of self-portraits, including one for the cover shot.

Unleashing his photographic creativity, the Twilight star got behind, and in front of, the camera lens in the London apartment he’s currently holed up in for the latest issue of GQ.

One image depicts the actor sat in the corner of a living room surrounded by cereal and HP brown sauce, while another he sits slouched on a chair, bottle of beer in hand.

For the cover shot itself, Pattinson has the camera lead around his neck as he looks directly into the lens.

As well as showing off some pretty impressive camera skills, the actor also offered fans a glimpse of life under lockdown in London and how he’s coping with quarantine.

“I think… Like… I think everybody thinks it’s a pretty weird time.” he tells the publication.

He’s not been jumping on the home-fitness bandwagon either: “Literally, I’m just barely doing anything.

“I went for a run around the park today,” he says. “I’m so terrified of being, like, arrested. You’re allowed to run around here. But the terror I feel from it is quite extreme,” he adds.

He’s also been experimenting with some pretty weird food stuffs.

“Yesterday I was just googling, I was going on YouTube to see how to microwave pasta. Put it in a bowl and microwave it. That is how to microwave pasta,” he tells GQ.

“And also it really, really isn’t a thing. It’s really actually quite revolting. But I mean, who would have thought that it actually makes it taste disgusting?”

Sharing a further insight into his quarantine eating habits, the 34-year-old actor added: “Like, I eat out of cans and stuff. I’ll literally put Tabasco inside a tuna can and just eat it out of the can…it is weird, but my preferences are…just sort of eat like a wild animal. Like, out of a trash can.”
