Robert Pattinson’s ‘Mickey 17’ Bests ‘Bridget Jones’ at U.K, Ireland Box Office, ‘Marching Powder’ Debuts in Third
Warner Bros.’ “Mickey 17” claimed the top spot at the U.K. and Ireland box office in its opening weekend, earning £2.1 million ($2.7 million), according to Comscore.
The sci-fi thriller from director Bong Joon Ho, starring Robert Pattinson, made a solid debut, though it faced strong competition from holdover hit “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.”

Universal’s “Bridget Jones” sequel continued its remarkable run, landing in second place with $2.6 million in its fourth weekend. The film has now amassed $52.2 million, making it one of the biggest releases of the year so far.
True Brit Entertainment’s “Marching Powder” opened in third with $1.3 million. The film marks the long-anticipated reunion of director Nick Love and lead Danny Dyer after 2007’s “Outlaw.” The filmmakers indicate that the film – a comedy-drama about addiction, violence and happy endings told through individuals with real lived experience – is on track to gross the equivalent of is $2 million budget within the first week of opening.
Disney’s “Captain America: Brave New World” dropped to fourth place, collecting $780,135 in its fourth weekend. The Marvel blockbuster has now reached $21.2 million.
The only other new opener was Sony’s “One of Them Days,” featuring Keke Palmer and SZE, which debuted in seventh place, earning $257,016.
Universal’s “Anora” jumped back up the charts after its multiple Oscar wins to hold the eighth spot, collecting $226,703 in its 19th weekend. The film has now grossed $3.2 million.
Among upcoming releases Entertainment Film Distributors is opening thriller “Last Breath,” starring Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu and Finn Cole, wide across more than 300 locations. Universal’s “Black Bag,” directed by Steven Soderbergh, features an all-star cast including Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Pierce Brosnan and Tom Burke.
The wide releases also include Warner Bros.’ “Opus,” starring Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich, and Studiocanal’s fantasy-adventure “In the Lost Lands,” starring Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista.
Altitude is opening Cannes title “Sister Midnight,” headlined by Indian star Radhika Apte, while Tull Stories is bowing “Oh My Goodness!,” where five nuns set their sights on winning the cash prize in a major cycling race to raise money to renovate a dilapidated hospice.
Bulldog Distribution is releasing “All Happy Families,” while Munro is opening family animation “Away.” Vertigo is bowing Sitges winner “The Rule Of Jenny Pen,” starring John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush.
From Bollywood, Moviegoers Entertainment is re-releasing 2016 romance “Sanam Teri Kasam,” after its India re-release pulled in massive numbers. Bakrania Media is opening Punjabi-language crime drama “Six Each.”
Park Circus is re-releasing the Coen brothers’ “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
