Twitter is in meltdown over Robert Pattinson as Batman
Weeks of rumours have finally been confirmed, after Warner Bros told Variety that Robert Pattinson will be donning the dark knight’s cape in the studio’s upcoming instalment of the franchise.
Whispers emerged weeks ago that the Twilight actor could be the newest face under the mask, but were unconfirmed until today.
Pattinson will be playing Batman in his formative years in the newest film, The Batman which is set for release in 2021, Variety revealed.
He follows on the heels of Ben Affleck who played the beloved comic book character in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League to mixed reviews.
The newest instalment will be directed by Planet of The Apes’ Matt Reeves.
The announcement has caused division online, with fans uneasy about the actor’s ability to fill the boots.
Pattinson is best known for Twilight but some fans argue he has more talent than the teen-flick lets on.

Others are not so sure.
It's official, Robert Pattinson is officially your new Batman, this is the worst casting choice for a superhero film since they cast that pretty boy Heath Ledger as the Joker, the Nolan films never quite recovered from that terrible decision. pic.twitter.com/Lrh4UUtfQ3

However the majority of fans are excited about the announcement, sharing ecstatic tweets, and excited to see the franchise reimagined.
Before commenting on Robert Pattinson’s casting as #Batman, watch Good Time, The Rover, The Lost City of Z, High Life, and his Cronenberg work. He’s a deeply talented performer.
