Monica Garcia had a devastating update to share with fans just weeks after announcing her surprise pregnancy.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum first announced that she was expecting her fifth child when she appeared on an April 11 episode of The Viall Files podcast. Less than three weeks later, Garcia shared the “heartbreaking” news that she had suffered a miscarriage.

In a Sun., April 28 Instagram post, the reality TV star shared a photo of herself looking up at an ultrasound image that appeared on a monitor inside a doctor’s office. She explained in her caption that she had decided to let her fans in on “my life in all aspects” and had “promised” herself to be “completely unapologetically and authentically raw as possible.”

“Unfortunately, today I need to share a very heartbreaking aspect,” Garcia, 39, wrote. “‘There is no heartbeat’ I don’t have many words and I’m still processing all of this myself. As quickly as this happened, that’s how quickly things have changed.”

Garcia, who appeared on Season 4 of the hit Bravo show, shed some light on her unexpected pregnancy while speaking with former Bachelor star Nick Viall for his podcast. During their conversation, which they recorded about a month before the episode was released, Garcia explained that she was at urgent care “for something totally unrelated” when she discovered that she and her boyfriend, Braxton, 29, were expecting. It was a surprise to Garcia, who shares four children with her ex-husband, Mike Fowler, and had not expected to be pregnant again in her late 30s.

After sharing her sad news with her Instagram followers, Garcia left a heartfelt message for others who are struggling with similar experiences.

“I am sending so much love to everyone dealing with miscarriages, fertility issues, pregnancy problems, if you have an angel baby, and everything in-between,” Garcia wrote. “I am so grateful for my incredible doctors and amazing support system. I am so blessed to have all of you in my corner and I appreciate how beautiful you all have been to me about this baby. I love you and I’m so thankful for you.”
