‘RHONY’s Jessel Taank On Being More “Aware Of Myself” In Season 15; Explains Husband’s Comment About Beyoncé & Elon Musk

Jessel Taank became one of the breakout stars of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City reboot for her unfiltered takes.

The fashion publicist returns for Season 15 of the reality series, learning a couple of lessons about the power of having a microphone.

“Season 1 was a learning curve for everyone,” she told Deadline ahead of the premiere on October 1. “We were very, very new to the process and no one really knew what was going on or what to do or how this was going to play out.”

Taank said that during her first season on the show “I was just being wholeheartedly myself and sharing everything that was happening in my life at the time.”

“When you’re in reality TV, the worst thing is to filter or be filtered, but I definitely think I was just more aware of myself and my actions going into Season 15,” she added. “Still fun, but I think that we understand the repercussions of our actions a little bit better now.”

Taank’s husband Pavit Randhawa also became a fan favorite starring on the Bravo reality series, something that didn’t surprise the RHONY star.

“I think Pavit is someone that is naturally likable, and he’s very funny,” Taank said of her husband. “I just knew that he would thrive on camera the same way that he does off camera.”

Unphased by what the public might think of him, Taank teased that her husband is “even more vocal and even more ridiculous this season, if that’s even possible. He’s definitely a fan of speaking his mind.”

Randhawa is going to speak his mind alright, and on the premiere episode, he has a take that might be deemed controversial. During a lunch date, Taank expressed her desire to grow their family, which Randhawa is not on board with yet.

“What if we have the next Beyoncé or what if we have the next Elon Musk?” Taank asks her husband, to which he jokingly replies, “I’m OK with saying bye to Beyoncé, but Elon Musk, I’ll take.”

Taank explained that her husband is “such a nerd when it comes to tech and science and innovation,” noting that she got a lot of messages on social media about the statement.

“People were really upset,” she added. “But you have to understand, like his frame of mind, and he’s a big Beyoncé fan. But I think if you’re going to compare the two, you know he’s going to go with the science nerd that’s Elon Musk and not the pop culture phenomenon like Beyoncé.”

As the new season of RHONY premieres on Bravo, Taank reflects on the new season saying, “I think that for us, our life has changed so much since Season 14. Pavit and I are funnier than ever and I think people will really connected with us on the smaller things. I think it’s going to be a continuation of that and we’re here to make people laugh. I’m here to be fashionable and funny and I can’t wait for people to see that side of me.”

The Real Housewives of New York City Season 15 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
