Revealed: MKR's Josh and Austin are actors

My Kitchen Rules stars Josh and Austin Bonwick managed to ruffle some serious feathers during last night’s premiere episode.

And rest assured, their straight-talking skills are only one of many talents the homeschooled brothers seem to have under their sleeves.

It’s been revealed Josh, 25, and Austin, 22, have dabbled in the world of television and showbiz before, with both reality stars admitting they have experience as actors.

Making the admission on social media, Josh’s Instagram account is filled with references to his experience on screen prior to MKR.

It was an absolute pleasure to work on this one for @herobroker which has just launched,” reads a post shared in April last year.

Another post reads: “I was spring cleaning and came across my Costume I.D for Hacksaw ridge. Such good memories!”

What’s more, Josh is represented on Sydney Talent Company’s official website, which states he played a medic in Mel Gibson’s film, Hacksaw Ridge.

His online talent profile also states he specialises in improvisation, impressions and can do various accents in front of the camera.

Meanwhile his younger brother Austin seems to be just as enthusiastic about a creative career in showbiz.

Omg the set I’m working on today needed an umbrella and now everyone is looking at me like I know something they don’t. No it’s not gonna rain#actor #film #movies #model,” reads the caption one of his selfies.

The long-haired reality star also shows an interest in filmmaking and has his own Youtube channel.

While the boys are not actors on MKR, they have an air of confidence being in front of the camera which will hopefully serve them well this season.

“Life is too short to be quiet, always trying to please everyone,” Josh tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

“If you’re offended, it’s your choice,” adds Austin.

“Who remembers quiet people for having an opinion but just a neutral one? It’s like, have an opinion, stand for it, and live by it. If people like it, great. It doesn’t matter,” explains Josh.

“You’re not here to please people. If I wanted to make people happy or make people like me, I’d be selling ice cream.”

Josh and Austin will compete against eight other teams in the first round of MKR instant restaurants.

Claiming they don’t believe their cooking skills are the strongest, Josh says the siblings adopt strategies that don’t necessarily rely on their culinary talent.

“This is a game,” he says. “We’re the youngest contestants. It’s like duck duck goose on steroids. It’s a game and we know how to play it.”

My Kitchen Rules continues at 7pm on Channel Seven.
