Rebel Wilson's surprise move after welcoming baby daughter

Rebel Wilson will reportedly relocate to Australia from the US to undertake a new project after welcoming her baby daughter via a surrogate.

The Pitch Perfect star, who has been living in Los Angeles with her baby Royce and partner Ramona Agruma, is expected back on home soil temporarily to produce and direct a new feature film.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Rebel has plans to turn the play The Deb into a movie, with producers already looking for locations to film.

The Deb, which was written by Hannah Reilly, is a coming-of-age story that follows a teen in a small Aussie town and her rogue cousin from the city as they make waves as young girls prepare for their debutante ball.

The play debuted at the Australian Theatre for Young People, where Rebel had her start in 1999, and it won the ATYP Rebel Wilson Comedy Commission in 2019.

The new project comes not long after Rebel announced the birth of her baby Royce via a surrogate earlier this month.

“I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle!” she wrote on Instagram.

“I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making… but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care.

“Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!!”

The Senior Year star later sparked outrage online after videos emerged of her partying just weeks after welcoming her daughter.

After Rebel posted the video of her attending a wedding anniversary party hosted by Paris Hilton, fans flocked to the comments of the now-deleted post to criticise the star for being out celebrating after just welcoming her new bundle of joy.

"I wonder if the surrogate is out partying yet? I'm sure she is at home healing and waiting for milk to stop coming through," one wrote, according to Yahoo Life.

"Literally could not leave by babies for months and months after ... doesn't make sense to me," another added.

Others however defended the star saying she deserved to take time for herself.
