Rebel Wilson's fans rally around the star after 14kg transformation admission

'It makes me feel bad about myself…it shouldn’t…but it does'.

Rebel Wilson’s fans have rallied around the actress after she revealed she’s gained 14kg due to her hectic work schedule. The Pitch Perfect star, who dropped 35kg in 2020 after embarking on a ‘Year of Health’, took to her Instagram to share a photo of herself lounging in a hot tub on a yacht in Sydney Harbour.

“Working really hard has meant that, coz of all the stress, I’ve gained 14kgs (30 pounds)! It makes me feel bad about myself…it shouldn’t…but it does,” Rebel wrote.

“I’m really proud of the work I’ve been doing on new movies and my memoir, it’s just been a LOT and I’ve lost focus on my healthy lifestyle. Anyone else going through the same thing?”

Rebel’s legion of 11 million followers immediately flocked to the comments section to praise the star for all her hard work, commenting that she looks beautiful and telling her to remember that she’s also welcomed a baby into her family.

“Not only that, but you’re also a Mum, wearing SO many hats! The juggle is real!” one person wrote.

“You’re killing it love,” podcaster and former Bachelor star Brittany Hockley wrote.

“So normal Rebel! A doctor once said to me 'We fluctuate up and down about 10kg or so our whole lives, it’s normal' and tbh just hearing that was so freeing xx” a fan wrote.

“Gorgeous at any size. Be kind to yourself !” another said.

Rebel's transformation journey

Last January, Rebel took to Instagram to post a photo of herself in a bright blue activewear set, telling her fans that she felt at her healthiest.

"Rebel Rising 😉 #2022," she captioned the snap.

In June, she spoke to the Daily Mail about her weight loss journey, claiming people "don't really need as many calories as you think".

"Everyone thinks that you need to eat so much [and] your body needs it but the truth is your body doesn’t need a lot of calories and I know that might sound crazy to some people but if you eat right and you eat small portions you’ll be just fine,” she said.

"I learned that you really only need about 600 calories a day, you don’t need 1,500 or 2,000," she added.

However, the star clarified that consuming 600 calories is for detoxing, not for daily consumption and doesn't advocate others following this approach.

Rebel added that she eats carbs and enjoys things like pizza and pasta, however, she doesn't eat big portions - though she does indulge in ice cream every now and then.

Over the past year, Rebel has been working on numerous projects and the 42-year-old welcomed her first child Royce Lillian into her family with her partner, Ramona.

In August, Rebel was rushed to hospital following an accident on the set of her new film, Bride Hard. She also announced last year she’s set to make her directorial debut with an Australian musical called The Deb.
