In the film, titled Senior Year, Rebel plays a 37-year-old woman who wakes up from a 20-year coma and tries to reclaim her high school life when she was a popular cheerleader.
The Aussie actress has been regularly updating her social media followers with behind-the-scenes snaps from the production, which just wrapped filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
She recently shared a photo of herself with long, wavy blonde hair, black pants and a glittery green top, which is a recreation of Britney Spears’ look in the 1999 music video for (You Drive Me) Crazy.
“My life is CRAZY right now,” the 41-year-old captioned the photo. “PS, love you, Britney.”
Rebel also expressed her love for Britney Spears on TikTok, saying that she’s “the biggest Britney fan”.
“In my new movie, my character LOVES her and we use her as inspiration for our cheer squad,” she wrote.
Rebel is rumoured to recreate a number of nostalgic pop culture moments in her new film, which also stars Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone.
The comedian recently took to Instagram to share her gratitude for everyone involved in the movie, which will be released in 2022.
“I am so proud of our phenomenally talented cast and crew,” she wrote.
“This is the third feature film I’ve produced after Isn’t It Romantic and The Hustle. With each one, I learn more.”
Senior Year will also be Rebel’s first movie since 2019, after taking 2020 off work for her ‘year of health’.
Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle, Rebel’s Australian trainer Jono Castano recently revealed his “most important tip” for those looking to transform their body.
“I'd say her consistency has been the most important thing,” he said about Rebel.
“If you're consistent and you're getting amazing results then it's just going to continue to show, even if it's not just in your appearance, but it's also going to help in bringing out the best in you.
"We sometimes forget about what fitness and results actually do, it's not just about losing weight, it gives you so much more confidence.”
