Rebel Wilson has shared a photo to her social media account, saying it was when she was “at my most unhealthiest” before her 30kg weight loss transformation.
The 41-year-old took to her Instagram account to upload a photo with the world’s number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic, saying she was at the stage where she was using “food to numb my emotions”.
“Okay so I know that I normally post flattering photos of myself…but found this old photo in my emails and was like: whoa!” Rebel wrote.
“I remember this was when I was at my most unhealthiest - being overweight and indulging way too much with junk food. Using food to numb my emotions.”
She went on to say that her father has passed away and it “was such a sad time” for her.
“I didn’t think highly of myself and wasn’t valuing myself how I should have. It’s interesting that I’m still smiling and still trying to be active - this was taken at a charity tennis tournament event (ps @djokernole is such a nice guy) - despite being in so much pain,” she continued.
“I look back now at that girl and am so proud of what she’s become and achieved. And just wanted to send out some encouragement to everyone out there struggling with weight or body issues or emotional eating. I feel you. I know what it’s like. But it’s never too late to start improving yourself and trying to be the best version of YOU possible. It’s not a race and it’s not a competition - it’s about respecting yourself and doing what’s best for YOU. So if you’re out there and reading this today, I just wanted to say: keep smiling and keep trying to be active!”
Rebel started her “Year of Health” in 2020, going on to lose an incredible 30kg. She reached her goal weight of 75g back in November.
Appearing on Drew Barrymore's talk show, Rebel said turning 40 inspired her to rethink her habits.
Speaking of her weight loss journey, Rebel said: "Drew, for the last few years I've been theming my years, so I had the Year Of Fun, last year I had the Year Of Love and this year I’m like, 'It’s going to be the Year Of Health,' because I turned 40 this year in March and I never really focused on my health which was probably obvious."
She shared how becoming famous internationally was so stressful and her health took a backseat.
"I was going all around the world, jet setting everywhere and eating a ton of sugar that was kind of my vice.
"I have a very sweet tooth, I love desserts. I’ve tried, like so many women out there, fads and diets and things before and I’m like I need to do a really holistic approach this time.
She then focused on the emotional aspects of her eating habits. "I think what I mainly suffered from was emotional eating and dealing with the stress of becoming famous internationally,” Rebel said.
Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle, Rebel’s Australian trainer Jono Castano revealed the secret to transforming your body.
"I am such a big believer in starting as soon as you decide to change your habits," Jono said.
"So for me, starting a new lifestyle in a fresh year or even a fresh week isn't something I would suggest.”
“It's never too late to make a change for a healthier lifestyle and these don’t need to be drastic.”
