Rebel Wilson hit with Disneyland ban after 'illegal' act: 'Punished'

The Pitch Perfect star was likely in an exclusive Disneyland club at the time.

Aussie star Rebel Wilson has just revealed she was slapped with a 30-day ban from Disneyland after committing an ‘illegal’ act. The Pitch Perfect actress is well known for her love of Disneyland, with the 42-year-old even getting engaged in front of Disney’s iconic Sleeping Beauty castle last month.

While chatting to Hasan Minhaj on The Daily Show earlier this week, she admitted she broke a rule which led to her ‘punishment’.

“I did get banned from Disneyland for 30 days, because I took a photo in a secret bathroom inside Disneyland, which is illegal,” she laughed.

Rebel could be referencing the extremely exclusive invite-only Disneyland Club 33, and according to an article published by Insider in 2016, the annual fee could be as high as $30,000 USD a year.

It allows celebrities and other high-profile individuals some privacy away from the hustle and bustle of the park, but the rules inside the ‘secret’ area are taken seriously.

However, Rebel managed to get around the rules by being allowed to choose when she wanted her ban to take place.

“[Disneyland] called me up and said, ‘Rebel, what 30 days do you not want to come to Disneyland because you’re away filming a movie or something?’

“And I said, ‘Oh, June would be fine’,” she told the host.

Hasan was gobsmacked by how easily the Senior Year star managed to get away with her bathroom act.

“That’s how I know you’re a celebrity. Like, Disneyland has Met Gala rules where they’re like, ‘No photos here!’, and then you break it, and then they’re like, ‘Look, we have to punish you but, looking at your Google calendar, what month works for you?’,” he quipped, sending the audience into laughter.

After the show shared the clip on Instagram, fans began guessing where Rebel was when she broke the rules, with many believing it was Club 33.

“They’re very clear at Club 33 that you are not allowed to take pics of the bathroom. It's intricately decorated and very nice. It’s literally the only thing they request no pictures. Some members have been kicked out for doing so,” one person explained.

“It’s the door right by [the] Pirates of the Caribbean ride. You have to pay for a yearly membership. No pictures are allowed. It’s super nice in there,” another spilled.

Another fan claimed that Rebel had possibly bought the 21 Royal dining experience at $15,000 USD, roughly $22,000 AUD, which covers the cost for a group of 12. The Aussie actress previously celebrated her birthday at 21 Royal in 2020.

"Nope, not [Club] 33. 21 Royal! They told us this story but didn't say what celebrity it was," the fan spilled.

Rebel's 'magical' engagement

This comes after Rebel shared some sweet snaps from her engagement with fiancée Ramona Agruma in February.

"We said YES!" Rebel wrote alongside photos of the proposal. "Thank you @tiffanyandco for the stunning ring and to Bob Iger and the incredible team at Disneyland @disneyweddings for pulling off this magical surprise!”

The pair donned matching pink and white striped jumpers with a love heart on them as they kissed while showing off the ring. In another shot, both women are on one knee as Rebel holds the ring box outside the Disneyland castle with flower petals showering down on them.

Friends and fans shared their congratulations, with Rebel's Pitch Perfect co-star Brittany Snow writing, "Rebs!!!! Magical, congrats you two!"
