Gold Logie winner Rebecca Gibney’s beloved mum Shirley is making her TV debut at age 80 in Seven’s edgy new drama series Wanted.

‘Blink and you’ll miss her,’ laughs Rebecca.

‘It’s a tiny cameo that called for an old lady, so I suggested she play the part, and she enjoyed every second,’ says the 51-year-old.

‘She’s such a kind and compassionate person. Despite a very tough life – she was sexually abused as a child and my father was a violent alcoholic – Mum has never, ever become bitter or angry. She’s an inspiration.’
