Real Housewives of Sydney: Why Victoria, Caroline and Sally joined the show
The Real Housewives of Sydney stars Victoria, Sally and Caroline sat down with Yahoo Australia to chat all about the show.
Video transcript
CAROLINE GAULTIER: She gets hunted down. Yeah. They chased us for weeks through the forest.
[LAUGHTER]
VICTORIA MONTANO: Yeah, that was really hard.
SALLY OBERMEDER: Through the forest of Beverly Hills.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Yeah, with bow and arrows. And they finally shot us through the heart.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
VICTORIA MONTANO: I repeat my story all the time. But I literally for six years, even when there was not even a Series 2. So in the break between furnishing Season 1 and Season 2, I see Nicole, let's say on average once a month. So it was 12 by 6-- so 36 one-hour conversations.
SALLY OBERMEDER: No, 12 by 6 is 72.
VICTORIA MONTANO: [BLEEP]. She's such a crew mom.
SALLY OBERMEDER: Ah!
VICTORIA MONTANO: Crew mom.
SALLY OBERMEDER: I didn't do crew mom back then.
VICTORIA MONTANO: She did crew mom. You clearly did crew mom.
SALLY OBERMEDER: [INAUDIBLE], but yes.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Are we doing maths?
VICTORIA MONTANO: Yeah, well, she's--
SALLY OBERMEDER: Anyway, yeah.
VICTORIA MONTANO: --[BLEEP] so hard with me right now getting the maths out. 72 times?
SALLY OBERMEDER: 72 times.
VICTORIA MONTANO: So 72 times 1-- 72 hours of conversation with Nicole, and she didn't even know that there was going to be, like, another series. So that--
CAROLINE GAULTIER: What did these conversations consist of though?
VICTORIA MONTANO: You'd be the best. You'd be the best. You have to come on. Wouldn't it be fun? Wouldn't it? Chrissy, didn't we have fun? Chrissy's like, not that much fun.
[LAUGHTER]
SALLY OBERMEDER: And now what do you think?
[LAUGHTER]
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Yeah.
VICTORIA MONTANO: Look, it was really-- I had some hard times-- harder than probably most of the other Housewives. But there's always a silver lining to everything. And, you know, obviously you can see that I have great new friends from it. So that is definitely worth-- having two friends that I know will be in my life in one way or another for the rest of my life is worth the little bit of pain I had to go through on the show, 100%.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: We're trauma bonded.
VICTORIA MONTANO: Yeah.
SALLY OBERMEDER: For about six months, I was saying no. Because I was like, I don't have any capacity for it. I don't have any room for it. I don't have any-- oh, thank you. Full service.
VICTORIA MONTANO: Yeah.
SALLY OBERMEDER: I was like, I don't know if I really fit the mold, you know? Like a kind of other person. I was like, I don't have a boat. I don't have a yacht.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: You didn't have a what?
SALLY OBERMEDER: I didn't have-- a boat. A boat. No, I have boobs. I didn't have a boat, or a yacht, or a jet. So I was like, I didn't know what I would-- what I would bring to this? I'm not sure.
But I liked the concept that it was different. I liked the concept that it was just-- that the seven women would be their own people. And each is on their own path, and each doesn't-- they don't need to be cookie cutters. I'm not saying they were last season.
But like, they didn't have to be all the same. They didn't have to replicate a formula. And that I really liked. And so in the end, I was like, OK, one season. Let's see.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Thank God, Sally.
SALLY OBERMEDER: [LAUGHS] Yeah.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Sally's our rock.
VICTORIA MONTANO: I think everyone had a different role on the show. And I knew it while we were filming, but you really see it now, you know--
SALLY OBERMEDER: When you watch it back. Yeah.
VICTORIA MONTANO: And you know, just because Sally spoke then, like, Sally works as the joiner and the narrator. So every scene makes sense when Sally comes in and makes sense and joins it to the next scene and then you get there.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: That's actually a really good observation.
VICTORIA MONTANO: Yeah.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Actually, yeah.
VICTORIA MONTANO: So--
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Yeah.
VICTORIA MONTANO: --I feel like Sally's role was really to weave the storyline together. And Caroline obviously stole my role as the funny one that didn't get into any trouble.
[LAUGHTER]
But that's fine.
SALLY OBERMEDER: There's always next season.
VICTORIA MONTANO: I'm the funny one that got in a lot of trouble, but it's fine.
[LAUGHTER]
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Right. Oh, my god, I was waiting to see what was going to come out of your mouth then.
VICTORIA MONTANO: I know, you're the one that didn't get into any trouble. That's what you got to bring.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Ah, me?
VICTORIA MONTANO: You stole my role. You stole my role.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: Right.
VICTORIA MONTANO: That's fine. I'm over it.
CAROLINE GAULTIER: OK.
