How To Read Best-Selling Author Emily Henry: All Her Books in Order

Here is Parade’s guide to best-selling author Emily Henry, with all her books in order. Emily Henry is one of the best-reviewed, most popular and most dependable authors around. Yes, we've been fans for a long time. (Anyone who loves Nora Ephron is alright with us.)

That’s why you’ll find her on Parade’s list of the 125 Best Romance Books of All Time. Since her breakout book Beach Read in 2020, every summer brings a new Emily Henry novel into our lives. (And they’re always good: her latest Funny Story is on Parade’s list of the Best Books of 2024…So Far.)

You know her, you love her, and maybe you’ve even exclaimed to friends, “I’ve read everything by her.” But have you, have you really?

First, a new, deluxe hardcover edition of Beach Read ($35; Berkley at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org) hits the shelves on October 1, just in time for the holidays and gift-giving or maybe a little Secret Santa to yourself. It’s beautifully designed, has a new forward by Henry herself and–more importantly–has a brand new epilogue called “The Layover,” about the main characters Gus (the literary guy) and January (the best-selling romance writer, in a case of Henry manifesting her soon-to-be success and nailing it, no Secret!). So even if you have read Beach Read, suddenly there’s a delicious new morsel from it waiting for you.

And firster, Emily Henry announced she has a new book titled Great Big Beautiful Life ($29; Berkley at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org) due out April 22, 2025. Like I said, dependable. Thank goodness because it wouldn’t be summer without a new Henry.

Still, chances are you haven’t read all of Henry unless you’re a really devoted, determined fan. Because before she broke out into the world of adult romance, Henry was a successful author of Young Adult fiction. Unless you tracked them down by searching in a different part of your favorite bookstore, you might not even know about her first four books. So here’s a primer, followed by a list of all her titles in order of publication.

How To Read Best-Selling Author Emily Henry: All Her Books in Order

Emily Henry got her big break writing for the Young Adult market. Her first three books were by and about teenagers, each of them with a sci-fi or fantasy element. Not romantasy; think more small town with a touch of Ray Bradbury. Think…magical.

The Love That Split The World finds Natalie enjoying her senior year in a small Kentucky town…until things go awry–like, really awry–and visions tell her she only has a few months to “rescue” the super cute guy Beau she just met under the Friday night lights of the football stadium.

Then came A Million Junes, with the son and daughter of two feuding families in Michigan falling helplessly in love, with the teeny tiny problem of the supernatural curses that dog their families for generations. And When The Sky Fell on Splendor finds a group of teen friends in Splendor, Ohio developing amazing gifts after they have a close encounter with a UFO.

So that’s three well-reviewed books in a row with fantasy and sci-fi elements you were not expecting, were you? Then came the most unique title in Henry’s body of work, so far.

Hello Girls
came out in 2019 and it’s unique for two reasons. While still about teenagers, it’s got a dangerous edge and no magical elements, unless you count a convertible sports car, which you totally should. And it was written by Henry and co-collaborator Brittany Cavallaro, best knon for her Charlotte Holmes mystery series. (And check out her latest collaboration: the charmer Sunrise Nights, co-written with Jeff Zentner.)

Hello Girls
finds two young women with tough home lives: abusive parents and drug-dealing siblings. They can’t wait for high school graduation so they can get away. Then one night things get even worse and they suddenly think, why wait? Of course, stealing a couple grand and that sweet convertible might make their get-away all the nicer so they make like Thelma and Louise and then hit the road.

All of this came before Henry’s big breakthrough with Beach Reads! You don’t need me to tell you about those five wildly popular books. So here are all of Henry’s books, in order. Now let’s get reading.
