Queen put hot-headed Harry 'firmly in his place' over tiara drama

It's been three years since Prince Harry, 36, wed former actor Meghan Markle, 39, in a fairy tale ceremony at St. George's Chapel, Windsor.

Since then, the royal couple has welcomed two children, stepped away from official duties with The Firm and relocated to the US.

Tiara 'drama'

But surprising stories and interesting tidbits surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's big day on May 19, 2018, are still coming out of the woodwork.

The so-called 'drama' around Meghan's bridal tiara, for instance, was revisited once again by royal author Omid Scobie during his interview with True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat.

Contrary to rumours circulating at the time, there was no disagreement between Meghan and her soon-to-be grandmother, the Queen over which tiara she would wear down the aisle.

Scobie hosed down claims that the Queen, 95, had vetoed Meghan's initial request for an emerald tiara and instead forced her to wear the Queen Mary diamond tiara.

"The tiara selection went wonderfully," he said. "The Queen was very happy, Meghan was very happy."

Scobie added that the real drama took place later on when the couple was trying to schedule a pre-wedding test-run with the tiara, which was kept under lock and key at the palace, and Meghan's hairdresser who had flown in from overseas.

"They had to do an experiment with [the tiara] before the wedding day. The hairstylist came in from overseas, there was an appointment at Buckingham Palace, but nobody was there.

"It got to the point where staff around Harry and Meghan were tearing their hair out because the wedding was a couple of weeks away, months had passed at this point."

With time running out, Harry began to panic and, according to Scobie, was concerned that certain palace staffers were deliberately dragging their feet in order to make his bride's like 'difficult'.

"Harry had to intervene. He called his grandmother and said, 'I don't know what the hell is going on, but this woman needs to make this work for my future wife'."

In the end, Meghan reportedly didn't get to try the tiara on again until a few days before the big event at Windsor Castle.

According to a royal insider, the Queen was none too pleased with Harry's hot-headed phone call which involved some 'rude language' on his part.

The source told MailOnline that Her Majesty pulled her grandson into a private meeting where he was "was put firmly in his place. He had been downright rude".
