Queen and Prince Philip 'to get the COVID-19 vaccine in weeks'
The Queen and Prince Philip will reportedly be amongst the first people in the world to be vaccinated against COVID-19, in order to encourage other members of the public to do the same.
According to The Sunday Times, the Queen, 94 and Prince Philip, 99, will receive no preferential treatment and "will receive the jab in line with the [U.K.] government’s roll-out, which begins on Tuesday”.
The Mail on Sunday has also reported that it’s believed the news of the royal couple’s vaccination will be revealed afterwards, in a push to encourage others to also get the vaccination.
Buckingham Palace refused to comment on speculation that the Queen and Prince Philip will soon be vaccinated and then make it public, a move that could reassure anyone nervous about getting a vaccination.
"Our goal is totally to protect every member of the population, Her Majesty, of course, as well," Dr. June Raine, chief executive of Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, which authorised the vaccine, told the BBC.

The first wave of vaccines developed by American drugmaker Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech is expected to be rolled out in the UK on Tuesday.
High-risk people, those in care homes and over 80’s will be vaccinated first.
Other senior members of the royal family will reportedly be vaccinated in line with the roll out for their age group.
It comes after both Prince Charles and Prince William tested positive for COVID-19 in April.
