The Queen invites Meghan's mother Doria Ragland for Christmas dinner
Words by Rebekah Scanlan.
Traditionally, only direct family members attend the Queen’s Christmas dinner.
But it seems Meghan Markle’s bond with her husband, Prince Harry’s, grandma is so strong — she’s decided to extend the invite beyond immediate family.
A senior royal source has revealed the Queen has invited the Duchess of Sussex’s mum Doria Ragland to their private celebrations.
The “very thoughtful gesture” is apparently without precedent, with Prince William’s in-laws the Middletons never receiving the same invite.
“It’s a mark of the Queen’s respect for Meghan and an acknowledgement that she doesn’t have any other relations in this country – unlike Kate who has the support of a very close family,” the Express reports.
Since Meghan, 37, married Harry in May, she’s become a much loved member of the royal family.
The former Suits star — who is currently pregnant with their first baby — is said to be as thick as thieves with the Queen, despite all the drama her own family have caused.
But while her estranged father Thomas Markle hasn’t left the Windsors impressed, Doria certainly seems to have respected their ways and slotted straight in.
There’s even rumours she’s planning on moving from her home in Windsor Hills in LA to the UK.
Judging from her Christmas invite, it certainly seems like she’ll be welcome at Buckingham Palace.
