Queen Camilla's Rescue Dog Died, Royal Family Announces
"Palace aides have described Camilla as 'very sad indeed.'"
Queen Camilla is mourning the death of a very special member of the royal family—her 13-year-old rescue dog, Beth.
On November 18, the royal family took to Instagram from its official account to say goodbye to Beth, sharing a dedicated post featuring photos of Camilla and the beloved pup. "A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from @Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire," the post was captioned.
The first picture of the post showed Camilla on a daytime walk with the Jack Russell Terrier, adopted in 2011. The following images showed Beth alongside the Queen's other dog, Bluebell, her second Jack Russell Terrier rescue also adopted from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2012. Prince Charles also made a cameo in the post, and was seen receiving a sweet kiss from Beth in a lovely candid moment.
While the post itself did not explain what caused Beth's untimely death, People revealed that the dog "had an untreatable tumor and had to be put down over the weekend." As for how Camilla is doing in light of Beth's death, royal reporter Kate Nicholl revealed that "palace aides have described Camilla as very sad indeed," in a report for Vanity Fair.
Camilla has been vocal about her love of dogs, and has even incorporated Beth into some of her royal duties. She shared her love of the Jack Russell Terrier breed in an interview with Radio Five Live, telling host Emma Barnett, “The nice thing about dogs is you can sit them down, you could have a nice long conversation, you could be cross, you could be sad and they just sit looking at you wagging their tail.”
