Princess Mary's son sparks engagement rumours with surprise move
Prince Christian and Princess Chiara are rumoured to have gotten close recently.
Crown Princess Mary's son Prince Christian has sent the rumour mill into a spin after introducing his reported girlfriend, Princess Maria Chiara di Borbone-Two Sicilies, to his grandmother, Queen Margrethe.
The 17-year-old is believed to have invited the 18-year-old princess to Denmark in June to meet the Queen, with insiders revealing "they all took tea together" and that Chiara was nervous about the meeting.
"It's an informal stamp of approval for Chiara because Margrethe doesn't take tea with just anyone," a source tells Woman's Day. "Chiara was in awe of the Queen – it's been a dream of hers to meet such an iconic female ruler and she's been practising her curtsies for months."

The princess, who goes by Chiara, has previously told the Danish press that she and Christian have a great friendship and have a lot of fun. She is the youngest daughter of Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, and Princess Camilla, Duchess of Castro, who are close friends with Mary and her husband Crown Prince Frederik.
"There's no doubt an engagement announcement is on the horizon and the palace is preparing accordingly," the source added.
Rumours began spreading that Christian and Chiara were dating after they were photographed together at the Monaco Grand Prix.
The young prince is reportedly interested in having a "proper girlfriend", a Danish source told Woman's Day in June.
"Christian is just four months away from his 18th birthday and he's interested in having a proper girlfriend, mostly to fend off wannabe fans, but he also likes the idea of having a real companion," they said.

"Chiara ticks all the right boxes - she's funny, intelligent and very well connected via her social media. Of course, Mary would love to see him date someone like Chiara, who, despite seeming to have a jet-set lifestyle, has never had a whiff of scandal, nor has her older sister Carolina."
The insider continued, "Christian is definitely taken with Chiara - it remains to be seen if she feels the same. For now, they get along well, both families approve and they have a lot of similar tastes in music, sports and even film."
